You might have heard about the latest rockstar addition to the Kashoo team, Kasey Bayne. But have you heard her real story? This rapid-fire Q&A should shed some light… Full Name? Kasey Robin Bayne Nickname? Kasey. Sometimes Kase, K, or just “the cool one.” (OK, I made that last one up) Favorite 90s band or musician? I love love love 90s music! In fact, that makes up a very large percentage of my karaoke repertoire. Always a top choice: Spice Girls. (Spice up your life!) Have you ever re-gifted a gift? If so, what was it? Eek. Yes. To protect a certain Kashoo team member (*cough* me *ahem*), that’s all I’ll say on that. What’s your current computing rig? I absolutely love my MacBook Air. I also have a secondary monitor and my trusty BlackBerry is always within reach. Yeah, #teamblackberry! Even if there are only a few left! What’s your favorite color with scientific validation as to why? For years, I’d have said blue, hands down. But recently, I would say purple. Why purple? It can be serious, professional, but spunky and fun at the same time. Thus, I like to think of myself as purple in human form. How many Apple devices (in use and retired) do you have? Currently: The aforementioned MacBook Air, an iPod touch, and an iPod nano. Retired? Throwback time—I still have a really old Apple from my childhood, complete with Hypercard and KidPix! What’s the best joke you’ve ever told? When I was in university, I worked at the Markham Museum, leading historic guided tours. In one of the houses, there was an art piece made of hair. Yes, hair. Of course on tours, I’d refer to this piece as a family “hair”loom. And, yes, I laughed every time even though none of the tourists did. If you had to lose one sense, which would you give up and why? Touch. I hate getting my hands gross. I’m a big hand-washer. I always eat with a fork. So if I had to pick one, I’d go with touch. This is a terrible question, by the way. What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home? Italy! I did a summer semester there and ate gelato just about every day. All-Time favorite movie? One Week! It’s an awesome Canadian flick about the ultimate Canadian road trip. Watch it! What’s your go-to beverage of choice? It’s a bit of a trek for a drink, but it’s that good. I absolutely cannot go to Las Vegas without a stop at the Cosmopolitan Hotel for a S’mores Milkshake. It is truly an out-of-body experience. You’re on a desert island. You get one book for the rest of your life. What is it? The Tipping Point. It’s my favourite read. Again, this is an unfair question as I love to read. Can’t I bring a fully stocked e-reader and call it a day? What’s your athletic moment of glory? My first half marathon last fall. I’ve done two more since, but that was one of the best experiences in my life. Beyond that, I won third place in the Markham Bocce Club summer picnic race when I was 10. This was my first athletic ribbon. If you can’t tell yet, I’m a bit of a bookworm. (Editor’s Note: The Markham Bocce Club summer picnic race mentioned above had just three participants. Bayne has confirmed that this, in fact, “does not matter” and had no impact on her third place finish) When you’re not jamming on Kashoo, you are… Having a dance party in my living room! Um, I meant… ah… running, eating sushi, or on my way to an airport. I travel a lot, which I love! So if you see me in your town, or at your local accounting tech event, come say hi! Summer or winter? Why? Summer! Sunshine, beaches, ice cream and even the smell of sunscreen — I love it all. I love winter when I’m skiing (Whistler, here I come!), but other than that, I can do without summer. What’s the highest your “unread emails” count has ever been? I have blocked this moment out of my memory. Length of longest conference call you’ve ever been on? Two hours and change. It went past the end of the day, and despite my handwritten signs for a colleague to bring me a drink from the in-office after-work happy hour, I had to go without. It was with a customer though, and in the end, a great call. What’s your favorite treat? Oh my gosh—I love food. Hence all the running. It’s hard to choose! Things I can’t say no to include ice cream and scones. Not necessarily together, but I love ‘em both. What’s on your Pandora/Spotify/iPhone/iPad right now? I’m obsessed with Songza. I’m actually listening to it right now to help me through this Q&A. Their “music concierge” picks just the right tunes for the mood—everything from pump- up workout mixes to the perfect background songs for big projects. Check it out if you haven’t already.
